Digital inclision in education: challenges and benefits

In recent decades, digitalization in education has steadily increased. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of proper technology resources for teaching and learning. Digital technologies can improve educational equity and inclusion, can enhance learning by providing flexibility in terms of location, timing, and method. According to Directorate for Education and Skills by Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development digital equity and inclusion matters at every level of education, from early childhood, primary, and secondary to higher education. It is also vital for adult education and lifelong learning as society becomes more digitalized (OECD, 2023, p. 7). The aim of this paper is to identify the benefits of Digital Inclusion (DI) in Teaching English for specific purposes.

English for Scientific Communication

The textbook is designed for teaching English to scientific communication, it is aimed at students majoring in humanitarian fields of study who possess the level C1 of English language proficiency according to the All-European Recommendations on language education. It also can be used for teaching master students majoring in social work, public management and administration at universities. The textbook includes practical tasks for classroom work and educational materials for students' self-work, relevant articles and texts, a glossary and a grammar guide, and tasks for the development of communicative strategies necessary for students to effectively participate in academic and professional communication situations.

Professional English for biomedical engineering students

This electronic textbook is recommended for classroom and individual work with the third-year students of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Politechnic Institute. The main goal of the publication is to develop communicative skills in English professionally-oriented speech as well as the skills in listening, reading, writing and to improve translation skills. The textbook consists of eight units, four self-assessment tests, glossary, video/audio scripts, grammar reference, appendixes which comprise authentic professional materials for teaching future biomedical engineering specialists. The electronic textbook corresponds to the requirements of the study program.

The book consists of seven units and eight appendixes which comprises real professional themes for teaching future specialists in the field of mediation and conflict resolution The appendices contain a grammar guide, recommendations for essay writing, and video scripts. Each unit includes supplementary grammar tasks and texts for the development of sociocultural competence. This study e-book corresponds to the requirements of the study program of credit modules within the discipline “English for specific purposes”.
