dc.description.abstractenThe term "screenplay" has been defined in this article. Lexicographical interpretation and origin of the term "screenplay" according to various lexicographical sources has been studied. Common and distinctive features of the terms "script" and "film script" have been distinguished. Views of the linguists on researching of cinematography as a combination of verbal and non-verbal means of expression have been studied. Verbal and nonverbal expression plans of the film script have been investigated. Signs that serve linguistic (signs-symbols) and non-linguistic systems of the movie (signs-codes and signs-icons) have been analyzed. Semantic levels allocated in film discourse such as photographic background image, iconic text and narrative text have been considered. Film text as a discrete sequence of continuous sections of a text has been researched. The term "kreolized text" has been observed. The term "polycode text" has been considered. The main means, which interaction creates a sense of a film, such as the speech stream, the visual image and the musical score have been studied. The terms "film discourse" and "cinematic discourse" have been distinguished. Structural components of the film script have been analyzed. The terms "film dialogue" and "film-verbal writing" and connection between them have been considered. The film script as a "pre-text" has been researched.uk
