Chapter 1 focuses on the analysis of the purpose and operating conditions of the part in the assembly unit. It includes an analysis of the part's working conditions, material analysis, and determining the type of production. Additionally, it covers the selection of the base process, design of the blank, and locating scheme selection. The locating scheme selection is further divided into two parts: rationale for the choice of general manufacturing datum and rationale for the selection of manufacturing datum for the first manufacturing operations. Furthermore, it involves the design of the typical surfaces processing routes and the operational manufacturing process plan. A brief description of manufacturing equipment and cutting tools, along with cutting conditions selection, is also provided. Lastly, the chapter encompasses time and cost calculations. Chapter 2 focuses on the development of fixture design and clamping force calculation. Chapter 3 centers around the design of a spiral drill with a diameter of 8.5mm. It includes input data for drill design, the selection of material for the spiral drill, drill design itself, and the construction of a three-dimensional drill model using the CAD system Solidworks.
