Technical students are often taught English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Therefore, the meaning of ESP, its relation to English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Science and Technology, and the main features of ESP teaching at technical universities are clarified in the paper. In addition to that, the importance of audiovisual aids and their authenticity in ESP lessons is clarified. Among the media, the most authentic and diverse are films, series, and programmes. Thus, the advantages of authentic English videos and the possible disadvantages of their incorrect implementation in the study process are specified.
