The aim of the article is to substantiate methodological approaches to the use of cloud technologies in higher education institutions. The objectives of the study include identifying the main types and forms of cloud technologies, their characteristics and analysis of their application in educational processes. The essence of the concept of using cloud technologies in teaching English is considered. The main forms and their characteristics are studied and analyzed for effective use both during classroom and extracurricular students’ activities. Both positive characteristics have been noted, and their motivating factor. Since cloud technologies are a progressive means of working with information, they provide opportunities to learn English using various technical means, technologies, and forms, allowing to use convenient and familiar gadgets at a convenient time. Some cloud technologies allow the use of scales for assessing student learning results according to established grades.
