Influence of the impact angle during cold gas dynamic spraying of carbon nanotubes on a polymer substrate

This study examines the fixation mechanism of single-walled carbon nanotubes within a polyetheretherketone polymer substrate using the cold gas-dynamic spraying method. The influence of the impact angle in the range of 5° to 15° at a critical particle velocity of 1000 m/s was analyzed. The results confirm that stable nanotube bonding is achieved at all investigated angles. This finding indicates that, despite the asymmetry in the stress distribution, the local interfacial conditions remain sufficient to ensure effective mechanical bonding of the nanotubes within the surface layer of the substrate.
