Study of the kinetics of thermal decomposition of linden wood using thermogravimetric analysis in an air atmosphere

The article investigates the kinetics of thermal decomposition of linden wood using TGA in air at a heating rate of 10–30 °C/min. Temperature ranges and mass loss were determined for the stages of dehydration, pyrolysis, and combustion of the carbon residue. It is shown that biomass decomposition occurs through the decomposition of hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin, that constitute its composition. The influence of the heating rate on the temperature of maximum mass loss, which ranges from 350 °C to 370 °C corresponding to cellulose decomposition, was studied. Kinetic parameters of pyrolysis and for individual stages of hemicellulose and cellulose decomposition were calculated using the Coats-Redfern method.
