The paper emphasizes the importance of aligning with a journal's aims and scope, adhering to submission guidelines, and effectively structuring the manuscript using the IMRAD model. It also addresses weaknesses in various manuscript sections and underlines the significance of citing up-todate sources, detailed methodological descriptions, ethical considerations, and a logical flow between sections. It concludes that respectful communication in response letters to reviewers significantly impacts the publication decision. Additionally, it offers valuable strategies to improve publication success in high-impact education journals.

    Journalism education in times of war: new challenges and adaptation strategies

    In this study, the issues, and prospects of journalistic education in times of Russian-Ukrainian war are highlighted. By analyzing the adaptation processes and the incorporation of innovative technologies, we aim to understand how students navigate the unique challenges posed by wartime conditions. Method. In-depth interviews were conducted among fourth-year bachelor students majoring in journalism at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” regarding the impact of war on journalism education, the students’ perceptions of journalistic ethics, motivations, necessary skills, and psychological resilience in adapting to wartime conditions, etc. The interviews were meticulously recorded and analyzed to identify recurring patterns, divergent viewpoints, and emergent themes. Findings. The results underscore the multifaceted challenges faced by students in wartime. The students emphasized the necessity in training in safety, ethical norms in journalism, conflict, sensitivity, and advocated for the adaptability of educational programs, integration of real-life scenarios, and the cultivation of critical thinking. Additionally, participants stressed the importance of fostering resilience and providing psychological support mechanisms for students. Implications for research and practice. The findings highlight the importance of integrating critical thinking skills and promoting media literacy to prepare journalists for professional coverage of warrelated aspects and emphasize the necessity of collaboration between the university, media organizations and the government to ensure quality updates to educational programs. This research contributes to the development of scholarly discourse on journalistic education under crisis conditions.

    On occasion of the 300th anniversary: Hryhorii Skovoroda`S pedagogical ideas as a precursor of differentiated teaching

    On 3rd December 2022, we celebrated the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhoriy Skovoroda – one of the greatest Baroque thinkers, poets, educators and writers of the XVIII century. His influence on the development of Ukrainian and worldwide pedagogy is difficult to overestimate, however, today we would like to stress the importance and relevance of his ideas by analysing them through the prism of a modern approach to education – differentiated teaching and learning. H. Skovoroda`s studying at Kyiv Mohyla Academy, where he had a chance to meet famous and prospective philosophers, thinkers, and activists of the time, and his experience of teaching and lecturing at famous Ukrainian educational centers shaped his views on teaching methods. Combined with his philosophic views these ideas prove to be relevant in the modern conditions. The article analyses the main principles of differentiated learning – principles of taking into account the individual characteristics of students, accessibility, systematicity, consistency, autonomy, and consciousness through their connection to Skovoroda`s ideas. The analysis showed that H. Skovoroda formulated some of the fundamental principles of personality-oriented learning, which were precursors for developing ideas of differentiated learning.

    Online foreign language learning based on telecollaborative tasks and projects

    The development of new forms of technology has resulted in new methodologies and approaches in pedagogical practices, particularly within the field of foreign language education. This is especially useful in foreign language teaching because it allows students geographically distant to interact remotely. Moreover, the integration of task-based and project-oriented approaches implies a substantial increase in the quality and volume of communicative exchanges in virtual learning environments. This study aims to undertake a comparative analysis of two distinct online groups engaged in the same English B2 level course, although with different pedagogical strategies. While one group engages in collaborative, communicative tasks and a collective project, the other focuses on the individual completion of exercises and drills. Pre- and post-tests were administered to participants of both groups to gauge their linguistic progression. The findings reveal that the group involved in interactive tasks and collaborative projects demonstrated superior advancements in language proficiency. Furthermore, these participants reported an enhanced sense of confidence in their communicative competencies within professional contexts. The study concludes that integrating project-based learning and telecollaborative practices holds considerable potential to enhance the efficacy of foreign language instruction.

    Translation and teaching of classical ancient greek literature in Ukraine: cultural influence and historical dimension

    The article studies the translation of the Ancient Greek literature into Ukrainian as an important and historically conditioned process that influenced the translation tradition in Ukraine. The authors trace the history of translation dating from the period of Kyivan Rus to modern times by applying linguistic, chronological and thematic approaches. As a result of the conducted study the authors define main directions and trends of assimilation of the classical Ancient Greek literature by the Ukrainian context through translation in its cultural and historical dimension, as well as characterize the translations of the Ukrainian scientists and outline their contribution into the classical literature corpus formation. It has been revealed that in different historical periods, translated literature performed definite functions (it was used in religious worship, as the material for original literature creation, in intellectual discussions). Since the 19th century, there existed a tendency when translators (M. Zerov, I. Franko, Lesya Ukrainka, V. Svidzinskyi, P. Nishchynskyi, M. Rylskyi, G. Kochur, Borys Ten, M. Lukash, M. Moskalenko, A. Sodomora, etc.), guided by their own preferences, cultural trends, national needs, political attitudes, consciously chose original texts for translation, carried out scientific investigations and added commentaries to their publications, thereby creating a scientific discussion in the Ukrainian society. It was also found out that translations of Homer's works into Ukrainian led to the emergence of a certain translational tradition (the same phenomenon is observed in Western Europe), when Ukrainian translators developed a methodology that allowed them not only to convey the ideological and content component of the original poems, but also to reproduce the rhyming of ancient poetry. The paper concludes that modern translators from the Ancient Greek language continue to popularize ancient literature and the legacy of the holy fathers, thereby supporting the continuity of the Ukrainian school of translation.

    Unravelling the art of decompressing english-language scientific and technical texts in Ukrainian translations

    The study of decompression, an often-neglected aspect of translation studies, elucidates its role in translational transformations leading to increased lexical and symbolic volumes. The subtleties of translating scientific and technical texts into English into Ukrainian become obvious when dealing with such problems as dense and complex content, special terminology, and the dynamic development of scientific fields. The added difficulty of maintaining logical consistency and coherence while ensuring understanding further complicates the translation process. To solve these difficulties, decompression in Ukrainian translations requires a multifaceted approach that combines linguistic knowledge and subject expertise. Initiating research into the phenomenon of decompression in the context of information translation from English to Ukrainian, this article uses a comprehensive research approach. By analysing a variety of English-language scientific and technical texts, the study reveals the intricate details of this transformational process. The focus is on understanding the impact of decompression on both the volume and clarity of translated texts, shedding light on the dynamic interaction between languages and the challenges of maintaining fidelity to source materials across linguistic and cultural differences. This study marks the beginning of a fine-grained understanding of decompression in technical translation. Future research should further explore the intricacies of decompression, contributing to the development of practical tools that will facilitate more effective cross-cultural communication in scientific and technical fields. By addressing the challenges associated with decompression, future research efforts can improve the accuracy and accessibility of translated scientific and technical content, further bridging the language gap and facilitating the seamless exchange of knowledge across different linguistic landscapes.
