Документ Відкритий доступ Characteristics of a Speech-and-Music Work as a Multimodal Phenomenon(КПІ ім. Ігоря Сікорського, 2020) Marchenko, ValentynaThe paper presents a view on a speech-and-music work as a multimodal text created by the synthesis of speech and music. The meaning and pragmatic potential of speech-and-music works are developed by the interaction of the mentioned heterogeneous semiotic systems which in their turn are united and processed by a recipient into a certain coherent entity. The multimodality of speech-and-music works makes them valuable for teaching languages since the use of several semiotic modes contribute to better perception, meaning-making and therefore decoding and memorization of a language.Документ Відкритий доступ Investigating the Interplay of Speech Intonation and Music in Speech-and-Music Works(КПІ ім. Ігоря Сікорського, 2019) Marchenko, ValentynaThe paper presents the overall results of the experimental phonetic research aimed at studying the relations between speech and music, with an emphasis on their intonation, and their integrated functioning within speech-and-music works. Based on Speech Energetic Theory, the study exploited the idea of emotional-and-pragmatic potential as a background for speech-and-music work generation and used a special formula for its evaluation within a speech-and-music work. Such an approach enabled the author to establish commonalities and discrepancies in speech and music intonation functioning within a speech-and-music work.Документ Відкритий доступ Linguistic and extralinguistic characteristics of TED talks as multimodal English text(КПІ ім. Ігоря Сікорського, 2020) Marchenko, Valentyna; Minenko, YevheniiThe article focuses on the investigation of such linguistic phenomenon as multimodality, namely its linguistic and extralinguistic features in TED Talks. TED Talks is a conference where influential people speak to the audience about important issues that need to be addressed in our society. Speakers of the conference perform a role of ideators who are trying to get their ideas across to the people in the audience. To fulfill their objectives, they resort to different techniques implementing all kind of linguistic and extralinguistic means in their strategies of drawing public attention. To realizing a full potential of a performance on stage, speaker needs to be fully prepared, which means making a presentation, a speech and thinking about their actions on stage in advance. Duration of a TED Talk usually varies from 10 to 15 minutes, which is motivated by people’s generally short attention span. The article is based on D. M. Kaysina’s classification of rhetorical strategies that are realized in TED Talks. This classification helps us understand the basics of linguistic means which play a large part in forming a communicative intention. As well as how different parts of the sentence can be combined to create the synergy needed. Understanding the principles play a key role in oral presentation and helps us better understand how language works.Документ Відкритий доступ Projecting Emotions through Rhythm and Tempo in Speech-and-Music Works(КПІ ім. Ігоря Сікорського, 2021) Marchenko, ValentynaДокумент Відкритий доступ Ukrainian experience and new energy challenges during the times of growing global conflict(Azerbaijan Technical University, 2022-11-25) Marchenko, Valentyna; Kavtysh, Oksana; Makaliuk, IrynaДокумент Відкритий доступ Ukrainian experience and new energy challenges during the times of growing global conflict(Azerbaijan Technical University, 2023) Marchenko, Valentyna; Kavtysh, Oksana; Makaljuk, IrynaThe article substantiates the relevance of switching approaches to the formation of energy security of countries in the times of growing global conflict. The structure and dynamics of energy production and consumption in the European Union and Ukraine considering traditional and renewable sources until 2020 were analyzed. The structure of the energy balance of Ukraine and its difference from EU countries were described. Despite the growth of energy production from renewable sources, a high level of dependence (more than 50%) of EU countries on imported traditional energy carriers from third countries, especially, the russian federation, was revealed. The negative impact and consequences of EU’s dependence on energy supply from the aggressor country and the need to develop and diversify sources of energy supply in the national context was substantiated. The experience of processing and energy utilization of waste in various European countries was studied, in terms of the biogas production and garbage incineration. The need to expand the practice of using solid household waste as a source of energy to increase the national energy sustainability of countries with strict compliance of environmental legislation was substantiated. European practices of energy production based on household waste incineration were analyzed. It was revealed that despite the implementation of circular economy standards, up to 50% of the total volume of generated household waste is incinerated in the EU countries, thereby covering the cities' need for heat and electricity. Modern technologies of energy utilization of household waste and generalized European practices of slag use, which reduces the cost of energy production, were studied. A comparison of the volumes of energy utilization of household waste in the EU and Ukraine revealed the potential of energy supply of the country's economy. It has been stated that despite the exclusion of waste-to-energy waste incineration from the list of sustainable practices, the process of building waste incineration plants based on advanced waste disposal technologies persists in EU countries. The reasons for the low level of waste energy utilization in Ukraine have been investigated. Circumstances and conditions, the formation of which will allow understanding the energy potential of solid household waste and increase the level of energy independence of Ukraine, were generalized. It was concluded that in the conditions of significant investment costs in the construction of waste incineration plants, the main factors for ensuring the efficiency of their activity are the stability of sources of waste receipt and full loading of the plant's production capacity.
