The article analyses the problem of critical thinking, substantiates the essence and innovative approaches to the formation of critical thinking in students studying in sociological specialties. An overview of modern technologies and methods, which are the result of long-term educational practice, is presented, which allow to effectively form and develop critical thinking skills of future and current specialists in social sciences, whose main goal is to effectively solve complex problems and social challenges of modern society.
