Different areas of study and training of students at the university. Beginner and sports levels of swimming training
(УДУ імені Михайла Драгоманова, 2024) Zubko, Valentyna; Cherevichko, Oleksandr; Smirnov, Kostiantyn; Garnusova, Viktoriya
The effectiveness of acquiring knowledge in universities depends on many factors’ conditions, including the level of functional state of the students' bodies, their attitude to a healthy lifestyle. A young specialist should not only be well-prepared in the chosen profession, but also comprehensively developed, able to solve the most difficult professional tasks, and have an optimal level of health. The problem of increasing working capacity and functional capabilities in the conditions of a significant increase in the educational load of students is currently a very urgent task. Physical culture is the most effective factor in preserving and strengthening health. With optimal physical activity, all organs and systems work economically, adaptive reserves are large, and the body's resistance to adverse conditions is high. The attention of scientists who study the processes of adaptation is mainly directed to the degree and nature of changes in the main physiological indicators in healthy people and people engaged in sports. Attention to student youth is explained by the fact that university students are the avant-garde direction of Ukraine's youth. Their ability to work as future engineers, managers, and marketers largely depends on their physical and mental health and social well-being. Due to well-known socio-economic and environmental reasons, the health of the population in general, and of students in particular, has significantly deteriorated. Studying at a university also does not contribute to improving the health of young people. Firstly, the university does not provide physical education throughout the entire period of student life. It lasts only the period allocated for the educational process.

Physical activity as a way of influencing cognitive functions and brain activity of students during their studies at the university
(УДУ імені Михайла Драгоманова, 2025) Zubko, Valentyna; Kachalov, Oleksandr
The relationship between physical activity and academic performance has been studied extensively, and research supports the idea that regular physical activity can have a positive impact on academic life. This can include improving students’ cognitive function, attention, memory, and academic performance. Physically active students perform better on cognitive tests and have higher academic achievement scores compared to their sedentary peers. Additionally, physical activity has been shown to reduce stress and improve mood, reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression in adolescents, which can also have a positive impact on academic performance. Sports and physical activity have a significant impact on students’ academic life. Research has shown that students who regularly engage in physical activity tend to perform better academically and have higher grades than those who do not. This is because exercise helps improve memory, concentration, and attention, as well as reduce stress and anxiety levels. Physical activity also helps improve sleep, which is essential for overall health and academic success. When students get enough sleep, they are more alert, energetic, and able to focus on their studies. Additionally, physical activity increases blood flow to the brain, which in turn increases oxygen and nutrients, leading to improved cognitive function. In addition to the cognitive benefits, playing sports also helps students develop important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. These skills are essential for success not only in the academic field, but also in their future careers and personal lives. In addition, playing sports can also help build self-esteem, confidence, and resilience. When students achieve their goals through sports, they learn to believe in themselves and their abilities. This self-confidence will help students cope with the challenges of academic life, leading to increased academic performance and success. The benefits of playing sports are numerous, from improving memory and concentration to developing self-esteem and life skills. Therefore, it is important for students to make time for physical activity and choose the right sports that suit their interests and abilities.

Physical education in higher educational institutions in the direction of psychological and pedagogical foundations
(УДУ імені Михайла Драгоманова, 2025) Zubko, Valentyna; Garnusova, Viktoriia; Shyp, Liliia
In the development of an active positive attitude towards physical culture and sports, the formation of the corresponding motives in young people is of primary importance. This process includes two mechanisms - "bottom up" and "top down". In the first, spontaneously formed or specially organized conditions of physical culture and sports activities satisfy certain needs selectively. If this happens systematically, the corresponding motives arise and are strengthened. The second mechanism, "top down", operates when a person assimilates the motives presented to him in a ready-made form; according to the plan of the teacher and coach, they should be trained in him. The student must gradually transform these motives from understood into effective ones. Explaining the essence of motives, their relationship with each other and with needs makes it easier for the student to work on their internal meaning, eliminates the spontaneous search for mistakes, the wrong choice of sport or form of physical education. Thus, the first mechanism is stimulated by changing the external conditions of physical education and sports activities (methodology, selection of physical exercises, etc.), the second - by changing the intrapersonal atmosphere through understanding needs and turning them into motives. Full formation of motives is possible with the synchronous action of both mechanisms. In reality, this is what happens, although in some periods one may prevail. During the introduction of young people to physical education and sports, the firstmechanism is most productive - "from the bottom up", the second is better to connect a little later, already in the period of direct classes. Both mechanisms have advantages and disadvantages. The main disadvantage of the first mechanism is that even a specially organized training process by a teacher may not bring the expected success in the formation of motives. It will have to be supplemented by the second, explaining to the pupils the meaning and necessity of forming the necessary skills. The purpose of this work is to consider these mechanisms, to investigate the dynamics of their development and influence on the specific choice of students and their subsequent actions.

Swimming in universities in the system of physical education. The influence of recreational swimming on the organism of students of higher education
(УДУ імені Михайла Драгоманова, 2024) Zubko, Valentyna; Cherevichko, Oleksandr; Smirnov, Kostiantyn
When moving in water, almost all the muscles of the body work. Swimming promotes the development of endurance and coordination of movements. This is a successful means of strengthening the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The practical value of swimming is also great. Every person should be able to swim long distances and provide assistance to someone in distress on the water. It is no coincidence that even in ancient times, swimming was one of the main signs of culture. Swimming is a sport that involves swimming over different distances in the least amount of time. Swimming is considered one of the disciplines of physical education at a university and is included in the educational program of many universities; it is a mandatory section in mass sports work and sports and recreational activities for students. Moreover, swimming as a sport is most appropriate for any age. During the classes, students will easily master the technique of sports swimming methods and will be able to take part in various competitions. To a greater extent, this will be explained by age-related anatomical and physiological characteristics, which can be best expressed in special conditions of the aquatic environment. And for this reason, it allows students to quickly master the technique of sports swimming methods. The physiological and psychological characteristics of the body of boys and girls also significantly favor the successful use of swimming in physical education classes at a university. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of swimming as one of the popular and widespread types of sports for students. Swimming lessons are available and useful for students. For this reason, regular visits to the pool and certain systematic water procedures will instill lasting hygienic skills, gradually becoming a need and a habit. Swimming is considered an amazing form of physical exercise - it will have a healing and strengthening effect on all systems of the individual’s body. It will serve as a good means of relaxation and hardening. When swimming, the mechanism of thermoregulation will be improved, immunological properties will increase, and adaptation to various environmental conditions will increase.
