Анотація
This article explores the insufficiency of exclusively territorial perspectives in the study of dialects, proposing instead a comprehensive approach that considers both regional and social factors. Dialects are shaped by both regional and social influences, encompassing factors such as age, social class, education, and gender. Traditional dialectology considers that language differences are influenced by communication intensity and social status, with higher socio-cultural levels correlating with standardized speech. However, an analysis of the North-Eastern dialect from 1960 to 2010 challenges this assumption, revealing fluctuations in vowel system deviations among the speakers of high socio-cultural level. This suggests an existence of a complex relationship between a person's social and cultural position and linguistic norms, influenced by societal changes such as education, media influence, and increased mobility.
