Анотація
The paper is an attempt to define a set of archetype prosodic patterns common for English folk texts of various genres. The study is based on folklore texts grouped according to their pragmatic orientation into three classes: spiritual-and-ideological (myths, and legends), culturaland-household (proverbs, and fairy tales), creative-and-teaching (riddles, anecdotes, and parables) texts. The author believes that archetype ideas conveyed in folk texts can migrate from one genre to another as well as can be reproduced in a number of other literary genres and types of texts.
