dc.description.abstractenIn the spring of 1981, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Ukraine developed a targeted comprehensive training program, for the distribution and the use of specialists who had to eliminate the disadvantages of their training. To solve the problem begins the implementation of the computer technology into the educational process, as well as the issue of engineers’ relevant training profiles. Computerization of higher technical education required the improvement of the training of students in the field of computer technology, the provision of training facilities, appropriate equipment, and the creation of appropriate software. Nevertheless, in the higher schools of Odessa, Kiev, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Lviv there was a lack of computer equipment of new generations. The reason for this situation was the extensive nature of the entire country’s economy and similar approaches to the training of graduates of higher education. Under such circumstances, the issue of the influence of mathematical disciplines on the quality of applied developments and their use in engineering practice becomes relevant. According to the leading scientists of Ukraine, the best educational institution in which it would be possible to provide the specialists in applied mathematics with deep knowledge of modern engineering technologies was the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. On June 25, 1990, The Main Council of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute decided to establish a Faculty of Applied Mathematics. On July 18, 1990, the rector of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute signed an order. “FPM” was formed from the Faculty of computer science. It consisted of three departments: “Applied mathematics”, “Mathematical methods of system analysis” and “Specialized computing facilities”. Famous scientists, real members and correspondent members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Zgurovsky M.Z., Safalov K.G., Daletsky Yu.L., professors Vavilov Ye.M., Molchanov O.A., Pavlov O.A., Tarasenko V.P. participated in the creation of “FPM” and its formation in different years. The first dean of the faculty was Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine I.M. Kovalenko.uk
