dc.description.abstractRiveted joints in fuselage skins, typically made of high-strength aluminum alloys, accumulate defects primarily within the interlaminar space in the form of fatigue cracks near fastener holes and subsurface corrosion. These defects are inaccessible to inspection methods requiring direct surface access, such as visual or penetrant testing. Conversely, the eddy current testing (ECT) enables the detection of subsurface anomalies without mechanical contact, with the sensing depth being adjustable through the selection of the excitation frequency. The practical challenge lies in the fact that selecting the parameters of the eddy current probe for a specific multilayer configuration is mostly performed empirically.
