Анотація
The research under study is aimed at defining patterns characteristic of prohibitive speech acts having the pragmalinguistic orientation of warning in dialogue communication between the adults of different gender. The interplay of means used by the speakers to convey the intended meaning shows the predominance of laconic forms used by men in formal and informal communicative situations, while women, apart from the mentioned forms, also use variety of verbal and non-verbal means to convey implicit meaning.
