dc.description.abstractenThe article examines the main factors that had the influence on the formation of cultural policy of Malta. It is concluded that, on the one hand, it reflects the colonial past of the country and on the other — implements the idea of a cultural bridge between Europe and North Africa. It has indicated the important role of such factors in the development of this policy as historical traditions, political situation, peculiarities of economy, church, and tendencies of EU development. The steps taken by two major political parties of the country — Nationalist and Labor — in the implementation of the cultural policy on Malta has considered. It has proved that the preservation and development of the national heritage of Malta is considered not only as a source of social and economic development, but also as one of the tools for the formation of the national identity. The main directions of the cultural policy of the country are identified, among them: preservation of existing cultural monuments; development of archives, network of libraries and creative economy; preservation of existing traditions, rituals and holidays; art festivals, which unite the history with the modernity. It has been found that the problem of refugees in Maltese society started the discourse on the policy of multiculturalism and the contribution of non-European peoples to the formation of national identity.uk
dc.description.abstractukУ статті досліджуються головні фактори, що вплинули на формування культурної політики Мальти. Зроблено висновок, що її особливістю, з одного боку, є віддзеркалення колоніального минулого країни, а з іншого — впровадження ідеї культурного моста між Європою й північною Африкою. Вказано на важливу роль історичних традицій, політичної ситуації, особливостей економіки, церкви, тенденцій розвитку Європейського Союзу в реалізації культурної політики. Розглянуто розвиток цієї політики під час перебування при владі Націоналістичної та Лейбористської партій. Доведено, що збереження і примноження національної спадщини Мальти розглядається не лише як джерело соціально-економічного розвитку, а і як один з інструментів формування національної ідентичності. Виявлено головні напрями культурної політики країни, серед яких: збереження культурних пам’яток, розвиток архівів, мережі бібліотек, креативної економіки, збереження традицій, ритуалів та свят, мистецьких і арт-фестивалів, які поєднують елементи історії й фольклору з сучасністю. З’ясовано, що у зв’язку з проблемою біженців у мальтійському суспільстві розпочалася дискусія щодо політики мультикультуралізму та внеску неєвропейських народів у формування національної ідентичності.uk
