dc.description.abstractУ статті проаналізовано пошукову, дослідницьку, видавничу, організаційну, громадську діяльність викладачів Луцького державного педагогічного інституту імені Лесі Українки. На основі архівних документів, матеріалів періодичної преси, наукових публікацій вчених доведено їх вагомий внесок у вивчення та збереження культурної спадщини Волині у 1950-х — на початку 1990-х рр.
dc.description.abstractotherThe article analyzes the activities of teachers of the Lesya Ukrainka Lutsk State Pedagogical Institute (now Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University) in identifying, studying, and preserving the tangible and intangible cultural herit-age of Volyn in the 1950’s — 1990’s. The main trends in monument studies de-velopment and monument preservation activities are considered in terms of the principles of historicism, scientific objectivity, and a combination of general sci-entific and special methods. The scientific novelty of the study is revealed in the comprehensive analysis of the search, research, publishing, organizational, and public activities of teachers of the Lesya Ukrainka Lutsk State Pedagogical In-stitute, which contributed to the study and protection of monuments in Volyn in the 1950’s — early 1990’s.The article describes the content and forms of monument protection activi-ties of teachers of the Lutsk State Pedagogical Institute and highlights the main directions of their work, initiatives, and ways of their implementation. The em-phasis is placed on conducting archaeological, ethnographic, folklore, and lo-cal history research, studying the life and creative work of Lesya Ukrainka and the Kosach family. The article highlights the processes of formation and devel-opment of several structural subdivisions of the institute — the Museum of Ar-chaeology, the Museum of Lesya Ukrainka, the Polissian-Volyn Folklore Center, and the scientific archives.The article emphasizes the importance of organizing and conducting scientific conferences by teachers, preparation of essays on the history of the Volyn region settlements to compile a separate volume of the «History of Cities and Villages of the Ukrainian SSR», a collection of materials about Volyn for publication of the «Compendium of Monuments of History and Culture of the Ukrainian SSR» The study also highlights the involvement of scientific and pedagogical workers in the activities of regional branches of the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments and the All-Ukrainian (now National) Union of Local Studies Historians.The research findings indicate that the monument studies and preservation studies conducted by scientific and pedagogical workers of the Lutsk Pedagog-ical Institute in the period of the 1950’s — 1980’s became an important step in the discovery, study, and preservation of certain types of monuments, and con-tributed to the publication of serious scientific works that still serve as the basis for objective study of the Soviet period in Ukrainian historical science.
