dc.description.abstractotherThe authors aim to identify how Ukrainian historiography covers the social, state, and legal development of Babylon, determining the extent of its study and outlining the most controversial issues that need further research. The relevance of this problem is evident, as it is only partially addressed in the works of contemporary Ukrainian scientists, with only some aspects highlighted. The lack of a comprehensive summarizing study on this topic gives practical significance to its scientific exploration. Achieving the goal involves addressing the following research tasks: determining the degree of comprehension of the problem, revealing the scientific exploration into Ancient Babylon in Ukraine, identifying the detailed research source complex, highlighting the main directions of studying the social and state-legal development of Ancient Babylon, showing their content, and outlining areas that require further scientific research. In the course of the study, the authors relied on principles such as historicism, objectivity, systematics, and continuity, forming the methodological basis of the research. The goal and tasks were achieved through the use of general scientific methods, as well as specific methods such as historiographical analysis, criticism of historiographical sources, typology, comparative law, problem-chronological, historical-situational methods, etc. These methods allowed the authors to join the scientific discussion, analyze the scientific works used in the research, generalize the views of modern domestic scientists, describe the social and legal development of Ancient Babylon, reveal its patterns and characteristics, and make generalizations, contributing to the scientific novelty of this research problem. The conclusions indicate that the study of Ancient Babylon requires further efforts from scientists. Although scientific research on Ancient Babylon was conducted earlier in Ukraine, it was isolated and mainly carried out in the context of general Oriental studies, which is currently in its early stages. The source complex of the research is representative and sufficient to establish the process of knowledge accumulation on this topic. Based on the analysis of the considered scientific works, it is defined that some areas of the studied topic have many established scientific views and generalizations in modern historiography. However, criteria such as the ranking of free people, the origin of Mushkenums, the regional and local levels of government, and other issues are still insufficiently covered and require broader scientific understanding.uk
