dc.description.abstractУ статті досліджено становлення, розвиток та функціонування міжнародних економічних організацій (МЕО) у контексті сучасної глобальної економіки. Проаналізовано ключові етапи їхнього формування: від початкового міждержавного економічного співробітництва наприкінці XIX - початку XX ст. до сучасної регіоналізації та розширення функцій на початку XXI ст. Особливу увагу приділено класифікації МЕО за типами та сферами діяльності, а також їхнім основним функціям: регуляторній, координаційній, арбітражній, моніторинговій, консультативно-технічній та стабілізаційній. Значну частину дослідження становить аналіз практичних прикладів впливу МЕО на світову торгівлю, серед яких діяльність СОТ у спорах США - ЄС та інтеграція Китаю, регіональна інтеграція ЄС, антикризові програми МВФ 2008 - 2009 рр., а також координаційні ініціативи G20. Ці приклади демонструють безпосередній вплив МЕО на інституційне середовище, торговельні потоки та поведінку держав у глобальній економіці. Окремо підкреслено важливість адаптації організацій до сучасних викликів глобалізації для забезпечення стабільності, передбачуваності та ефективності світової торгівлі.
dc.description.abstractotherThe article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the role of international economic organisations (IEOs) in the contemporary global economy and their impact on international trade. It examines the historical stages of IEO development, beginning from the late 19th to the early 20th century, when interstate economic cooperation emerged alongside the first attempts at sectoral regulation through specialised international unions. Subsequent development of IEOs occurred after the Second World War with the establishment of a system of global economic governance, represented by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. A significant stage was the period from 1947 to 1995, during which multilateral trade was institutionalised through the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), and from 1995 onwards, comprehensive legal regulation of global trade was implemented under the auspices of the World Trade Organization (WTO). At the contemporary stage, there is notable regionalisation and expansion of IEO functions, as evidenced by the activities of organisations such as the European Union (EU), the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the G20. The study explores the key functions of IEOs, including regulatory, coordinative, arbitration, monitoring, advisory and technical, and stabilisation functions, which ensure predictability, transparency, and the efficient functioning of the global trading system. A multi-level classification of IEOs is presented, encompassing global universal organisations (WTO, IMF, World Bank), regional economic unions (EU, USMCA, ASEAN), sectoral and specialised institutions (International Labour Organization, International Energy Agency, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), and financial-coordination forums (G20, Bretton Woods institutions). The practical impact of IEOs on international trade is highlighted through case studies, including the resolution of trade disputes (WTO in the Airbus - Boeing case), the integration of new members(China’s accession to the WTO), regional integration (the formation of the EU Single Internal Market), the implementation of crisis-response programmes (IMF during 2008 - 2009), and the coordination of global policy during crises (G20). These cases demonstrate how IEOs contribute to market stabilisation, the enhancement of transparency and predictability in trade flows, and the strengthening of the roles of states and regions in the global economy. The article emphasises that the effectiveness of IEOs depends on the political will of member states and the distribution of benefits among them; therefore, these organisations must continuously adapt to the changing conditions of the contemporary global economic environment. The authors conclude that the primary objective of international economic organisations is to maintain stability and integration in global trade, to create an institutional environment conducive to market liberalisation, and to provide comprehensive regulatory, coordinative, and stabilising influence on economic processes on a global scale.
