Опис

The study guide English for Chemical Technology and Engineering: A Practical Course in Chemistry and Professional Communication has been developed for bachelor’s degree students enrolled in specialty 161 “Chemical Technology and Engineering.” The study guide aims to help students build professional English competence through the study of chemistry-related topics, technical vocabulary, grammar in scientific contexts, and communicative tasks connected with their future field of work. The study guide includes six thematic units. They focus on chemistry as a science and profession, the periodic table of elements, properties of elements, compounds and mixtures, solutions and solubility, chemical reactions and equations, and public speaking in professional contexts. These topics introduce students to key scientific concepts while also developing their ability to explain processes, discuss technical information, summarize scientific texts, and deliver presentations. Each unit combines reading, listening, speaking, writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, revision, and self-assessment activities. The materials are designed mainly for students working at B1+–B2 levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The tasks encourage students to work with scientific and technical texts, use professional terminology and collocations, take part in discussions, write short academic texts, and present information clearly and logically. The study guide follows the principles of English for Specific Purposes and combines language learning with professionally oriented content. It uses authentic and adapted materials, multimedia resources, practical tasks, and activities that support individual, pair, and group work. Special attention is given to scientific vocabulary, grammar needed for technical communication, academic writing, speaking practice, critical thinking, and teamwork. The study guide can be used in classroom teaching, independent study, blended learning, and distance learning. It may also be useful as supplementary material for students preparing oral presentations, scientific summaries, laboratory-related explanations, and other academic or professional communication tasks in chemical technology and engineering.
