dc.description.abstractУ статті представлено результати аналізу фінансових та операційних показників 10 провідних авіакомпаній світу за період 2019–2023 років. Основним інструментом оцінки використано гармонійний індекс, який враховує рентабельність, ліквідність, ефективність та вартість пасажиро-кілометра. Дослідження показало значну варіативність показників між авіакомпаніями та їхню адаптацію до глобальних викликів, зокрема пандемії COVID-19. Провідні компанії, такі як Delta Air Lines, United Airlines та Emirates, демонструють стабільно високі показники завдяки ефективному управлінню ресурсами та інноваційним стратегіям. Водночас деякі компанії, такі як China Southern Airlines, стикаються з труднощами через високі витрати та низьку операційну ефективність. Запропонований підхід дозволяє комплексно оцінити ефективність діяльності авіакомпаній і слугує основою для формування рекомендацій щодо підвищення їх конкурентоспроможності.
dc.description.abstractotherThis study analyzes the financial and operational performance of the top 10 global airlines over the period 2019–2023 using a comprehensive evaluation framework based on the Harmonic Index. The index integrates multiple critical dimensions, including profitability, liquidity, operational efficiency, and cost per available seat mile (CASM), providing a holistic measure of each airline’s overall performance. The analysis highlights significant variations in performance and resilience among airlines, particularly in response to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings reveal that leading carriers such as Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Emirates consistently maintain strong scores, with Delta achieving a record-high index of 1.46 in 2022, attributed to efficient resource allocation and innovation in operations. Emirates, leveraging its global market presence and high-quality services, also showed remarkable resilience during the pandemic. Meanwhile, other air- lines, such as China Southern Airlines, struggled with low scores, reflecting challenges in cost management and operational efficiency despite their extensive fleet size. The study also examines the role of government support and strategic adjustments in aiding recovery, as evidenced by the improved performance of carriers like Deutsche Lufthansa and Air France-KLM by 2023. The analysis underscores the critical need for airlines to focus on optimizing resource utilization, embracing technologi- cal innovation, and diversifying revenue streams to strengthen their financial and operational stability. The Harmonic Index introduced in this research provides a robust tool for comparative analysis of airline performance, enabling a more nuanced understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. This approach not only facilitates benchmarking but also offers actionable insights for developing strategies to enhance competitiveness and adaptability in a highly volatile industry. The study contributes to the literature by demonstrating the importance of a multidimensional framework in evaluating airline performance, especially in the context of global challenges and economic uncertainties
