Анотація
The present thesis is an attempt to analyze different approaches to the study of sound symbolism in Ukraine, the USA and Europe. The relationship between the sounding of the word and its meaning has been in the focus of scientific research for centuries but the objective reliable data were received only after the introduction of quantitative methods of language study by the Ukrainian scholars.
