English for Professional Purposes. Information Technologies & Cybersecurity (Part I) is a coursebook designed for differentiated instruction, tailored to university students pursuing careers in the IT field. This coursebook is suited for intermediate to advanced university students. It enhances their professional communication skills in English. It also advances their technical, career and critical thinking abilities. By engaging with the content, students are not only able to refine their language proficiency but also cultivate essential IT competencies and foster creativity and analytical skills necessary for success in the IT industry.
The units cover a range of IT topics: “IT Project Management Methods”, “Types of Websites”, “Website Design. Security of Websites”, “Web Servers. Security of Webservers”, “Classical Cryptography. Ciphers and Codes”, “Cryptanalysis”, “Steganography”, “Digital Watermarking”, “Identification. Verification. Authentication. Authorisation. Accounting”, “Passwords”, “Biometrics”, “Security Tokens”.
Each unit includes a set of tasks and exercises designed for all students in the group, and with tailored activities for students’ varying levels of foreign language proficiency (B1 and B2) and diverse learning styles.
One of the obvious advantages of the proposed coursebook is its interactivity, which involves links to additional sources of information, videos, dictionary, tasks.
