Анотація

The second part of “English for Professional Purposes. Applied Mechanics” course is designed for bachelor’s degree engineering students, specialising in applied mechanics, who are studying English for professional purposes at technical universities. The aim of the coursebook is to develop professionally oriented English communicative competence at B2 a proficiency level for engineering students. The use of this coursebook contributes to improving of the organisation of the English language learning process, fostering students’ agency, enhancing students’ professional knowledge in mechanical engineering, and developing of their critical thinking skills. The coursebook comprises eight units covering topics relevant to the professional activities of future engineers in the field of applied mechanics. They are: “The Realm of Physics”, “Velocity and Relative Motion”, “Acceleration and Free Fall”, “Force and Motion”, “Newton’s Laws”, “Conservation of Energy”, “Work: the Transfer of Mechanical Energy”, “Fluid Mechanics”. Each unit consists of eight blocks aimed at the integrated development of work-related English language skills in reading, listening, speaking and writing.
