It outlines how corpus linguistics involves the study of large, electronically stored text collections (corpora) to analyze real-world language use. The article highlights the importance of corpus design, including considerations of size, balance, and representativeness. It discusses how corpus-based methods address limitations of traditional English teaching by offering more empirical and context-based insights. Influential figures like John Sinclair are cited, noting the value of word sequences over isolated meanings. The article also emphasizes the role of technology in expanding the scope and precision of corpus studies, allowing for advanced data organization, pattern analysis, and reporting. Computational tools enable researchers to analyze grammatical and lexical features across various registers and contexts. It also explores the benefits of using subcorpora and the application of both qualitative and quantitative methods for reliable linguistic analysis. Overall, the article positions corpus linguistics as a modern, technology-driven discipline that enhances linguistic theory and supports more effective language instruction, especially in professional and academic settings. It concludes that diverse methodological approaches within corpus linguistics offer valuable opportunities for refining language education and research.
dc.description.abstractotherУ цій статті досліджується значення та еволюція сучасної корпусної лінгвістики, підкреслюючи її наукову та освітню актуальність. У ній окреслюється, як корпусна лінгвістика включає вивчення великих, електронно збережених текстових колекцій (корпусів) для аналізу використання мови в реальному світі. У статті підкреслюється важливість дизайну корпусів, включаючи врахування розміру, балансу та репрезентативності. У ній обговорюється, як методи, засновані на корпусах, вирішують обмеження традиційного викладання англійської мови, пропонуючи більш емпіричні та контекстно-орієнтовані висновки. Цитуються впливові постаті, такі як Джон Сінклер, який зазначає цінність послідовностей слів над ізольованими значеннями. У статті також підкреслюється роль технологій у розширенні обсягу та точності корпусних досліджень, що дозволяє проводити передову організацію даних, аналіз закономірностей та звітність. Обчислювальні інструменти дозволяють дослідникам аналізувати граматичні та лексичні особливості в різних регістрах та контекстах. У ній також досліджуються переваги використання підкорпусів та застосування як якісних, так і кількісних методів для надійного лінгвістичного аналізу.
