Анотація
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into English Language Teaching (ELT) represents a profound paradigm shift that is reshaping traditional pedagogical practices and redefining the roles of teachers and students. Leveraging technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and intelligent tutoring systems, AI offers unprecedented opportunities for the development of authentic, personalized, and contextually relevant English language learning materials. Its capacity to analyze large datasets enables the generation of resources aligned with students’ proficiency levels, interests, and cultural backgrounds, fostering engagement and supporting the acquisition of communicative skills across speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Recent research highlights AI’s effectiveness in customizing instruction, providing adaptive feedback, monitoring learning progress, and optimizing administrative processes, thereby enhancing both teaching efficiency and student outcomes.
However, the rapid expansion of AI in education introduces complex challenges related to ethics, data privacy, algorithmic transparency, and academic integrity. AIgenerated content, while scalable and cost-effective, may lack the creativity, cultural nuance, and pedagogical intentionality inherent in human-produced materials. Concerns also arise regarding potential bias, unequal access to digital tools, and overreliance on automated systems, which may diminish critical thinking and problemsolving skills. Ensuring responsible AI integration therefore requires well-defined institutional policies, continuous monitoring for fairness, and comprehensive teacher training to support informed and ethical use of emerging technologies.
This paper examines the current landscape of AI in ELT, evaluates the strengths and limitations of AI-generated materials in comparison to human-created resources, and proposes strategies for teachers to effectively curate, adapt, and integrate AI outputs into pedagogically sound practice. By addressing issues of equity, transparency, and ethical implementation, the study aims to offer a balanced and evidence-based understanding of AI’s transformative potential in English language education and to provide practical guidance for harnessing its benefits while mitigating associated risks.
