This diploma project addresses the issue of analyzing modern operating designs of suspensions for multi-axle platforms and developing an original design of an independent trailing arm suspension for further use as part of a heavy 6-wheeled robotic platform. To protect the drive elements of the transport vehicle from impact loads, an alternative use of an independent pendulum suspension is proposed instead of a rigid mounting of the motor-reducer directly to the chassis frame. After a detailed analysis of the existing and patented designs, the kinematic scheme of the trailing arm suspension was selected for further research and modernization, as it provides high reliability and compactness for heavy off-road conditions. Using solid modeling in the Autodesk Inventor system, a conceptual 3D model of the proposed suspension and its mounting units was designed. Mathematical modeling was used to conduct an analytical calculation of hitting an obstacle to determine the dynamic factor and calculate the forces acting in the kinematic pairs of the suspension. Using the built-in stress analysis module in Autodesk Inventor, mathematical modeling was carried out and calculations of the structural elements (trailing arm, axle box) for strength were performed, as well as verification calculations of bolted and pin connections. Taking into account the results obtained, materials and standard components were selected for further design and development, as well as design and operational solutions were selected. Subsequently, design documentation was developed for the selected type of independent suspension, namely: an assembly drawing with a specification and its detailing (working drawings). To confirm the reliability of the further operation of the designed product, calculations of the safety factor of all the key components were carried out using the built-in stress analysis module in Autodesk Inventor. Taking into account the results obtained and the inherent operational properties of the designed independent trailing arm suspension, conclusions were drawn regarding the feasibility of its use in special vehicles, including heavy logistical ground drones.
