The data obtained point out the tendency of the organisational role of pause which integrates the time schemes of conflict fragments. The author traces the history of researchers’ interest in the problems of phonosemantics from ancient times to present days. The author also emphasizes the need to perceive units of the language phonetic level not only as carriers of a certain semantics, but also as informative language units, whose informativeness is involved in the formation of morphemes, lexemes, texts, thus providing for the realization of language information function.
