dc.description.abstractЖирко Д. В. Мотив шлях до слави в біографічному творі “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” та його українськомовному перекладі. Кваліфікаційна робота на правах рукопису. Дисертація на здобуття ступеня магістра зі спеціальності 035 «Філологія» КПІ ім. Ігоря Сікорського, Київ, 2024. У кваліфікаційній роботі розглянуто теоретичні засади дослідження біографічних творів і механізмів здійснення їхнього перекладу; узагальнено ключові поняття мотивології; запропоновано теоретико-методологічне обґрунтування актуалізації мотиву шлях до слави в англомовній біографічній прозі; з’ясовано способи відображення життєвого шляху відомих персоналій та вплив його інтерпретації на відтворення цього шляху в іншому лінгвокультурному контексті при перекладі біографій; проаналізовано мітологеми, тропеїко-стилістичні та наративно-композиційні засоби як маркери досліджуваного мотиву та визначено способи їхнього перекладу українською мовою задля виявлення тенденцій використання цих засобів і їх подальшого відтворення у перекладі. Об’єкт дослідження становить мотив шлях до слави у сучасних англомовних біографічних творах та їхніх українськомовних перекладах. Предметом дослідження є лінгвостилістичні та наративно-композиційні засоби втілення мотиву шлях до слави у біографічній книзі Кая Берда та Мартіна Шервіна “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” 2005 року видання та шляхи його відтворення в українськомовному перекладі Наталії Яцюк 2023 року видання. Наукова новизна роботи полягає у збагаченні знань стосовно реалізації провідних мотивів біографічних творів з погляду лінгвонаратології, мотивології та перекладознавства, особливо в контексті біографій видатних персоналій. З’ясування зв’язку між мотивом шлях до слави в оригінальному біографічному тексті та його перекладі поглибить розуміння впливу культурних та історичних чинників на перекладацькі рішення. Практичне значення здобутих результатів полягає у тому, що дисертація поглиблює розуміння ролі і місця біографії як жанру в літературному дискурсі крізь призму явища мотиву та особливостей його відтворення у перекладі. Результати та висновки цього дослідження можуть стати корисними для фахівців у галузі перекладознавства, літературознавства, мовознавства та культурології, особливо тих, хто займається біографічною літературою, а також для молодих авторів. Апробація результатів дослідження. Основні положення та результати дослідження були висвітлені в доповіді на XVІІ Всеукраїнській науковій конференції студентів та молодих науковців Уманського державного педагогічного університету імені Павла Тичини та у статті «Тропеїко- стилістичний аспект відтворення мотиву шлях до слави в українськомовному перекладі біографії Роберта Оппенгеймера» (у співавторстві з О. П. Воробйовою) в журналі “Advanced Linguistics”. 2024. No14 (категорія Б) (прийнято до друку). Публікації. This qualification paper addresses the theoretical foundations of biography studies as well as examining the mechanisms translating biographical works; it generalises upon the key notions of motivology; the paper provides theoretical and methodological grounds for the path to glory motif actualisation in biographical prose; the research identifies the ways of depicting the lifepath of famous personalities and highlights the impact of its interpretation on their representation in the target cultural context of translation; The paper focuses upon the analysis of mythologemes, tropes and other stylistic means as well as narrative and compositional devices along with the ways of their translation into Ukrainian to establish the trends of using such means and devices and their further representation in Ukrainian translation. The object of the study is the motif of the path to glory in contemporary English- language biographical works and their Ukrainian translations. The subject-matter of the study embraces linguostylistic and narrative- compositional means of embodying the path to glory motif in the biographical book by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” (2005) as well as the ways of its rendering in the Ukrainian translation by Natalia Yatsiuk (2023). The novelty of the paper is determined by a deeper insight into the ways the key motifs pertaining to biographical writings are actualised from the perspectives of narratology, motivology and translation studies, especially in the context of prominent figures’ biographies. Clarifying the correlation between the path to glory motif in the original biographical text and its translation will enrich our understanding of the role of cultural and historical factors in translation decisions. The practical significance of the findings entails from the fact that the dissertation might deepen our understanding of the role and place of biography as a genre within literary discourse through the lens of motif as a phenomenon and the specificity of its rendering in translation. The results and conclusions of this study can be useful for experts in the field of translation, literary studies, linguistics and cultural studies, especially those who deal with biographical literature, as well as for young authors.
